Training & Skills

RO-SMARTSYS develops practical skills for the semiconductor and smart systems ecosystem through specialised courses, hands-on learning, workshops and collaboration with academic, research and industrial partners. Our training activities respond to identified skills needs in semiconductors, sensors, MEMS, robotics, smart system integration and related digital technologies. The offer is designed to complement existing university education by providing specialised knowledge, practical experience and training in focused technological areas.

Who is the training for?

RO-SMARTSYS training activities are designed for participants at different stages of education and professional development.
Training formats and level of specialisation can be adapted to the needs of the target group and the specific topic.

Our training approach

01

Learn by doing

The RO-SMARTSYS training model combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience. Where appropriate, participants can work directly with simulation tools, fabrication technologies, characterisation equipment and prototyping facilities.
02

Flexible formats

Activities can range from short intensive sessions and one- to two-day workshops to specialised modules lasting one to three weeks. Training can combine face-to-face, online and hands-on elements.
03

Connected to real infrastructure

Where relevant, training takes place at partner facilities and can include practical activities using the infrastructure and technologies available through RO-SMARTSYS.
04

Complementary to university education

The Centre's courses are intended to complement rather than duplicate standard university courses, with an emphasis on specialised information, narrow technological domains and practical skills.

Specialised courses

The RO-SMARTSYS portfolio includes specialised courses developed by IMT Bucharest and POLITEHNICA Bucharest. The current portfolio includes courses covering semiconductor processing, sensors, photonics, materials characterisation, manufacturing, robotics, modelling and digital technologies.
The detailed course catalogue will be updated as new courses are developed and existing courses are scheduled.related topics.

Hands-on training & practical learning

Practical training is an important component of the RO-SMARTSYS skills programme. Depending on the topic, participants may work directly with simulation tools, fabrication technologies, characterisation equipment, CNC and 3D printing equipment, robotics platforms or other relevant infrastructure.
Training stages may also include the fabrication of laboratory prototypes, giving participants the opportunity to apply what they have learned to real devices and systems.

Schools, workshops & expert events

RO-SMARTSYS will organise focused schools and workshops bringing together learners, researchers and experts around emerging technologies and practical applications.
The project foresees a dedicated School/Workshop on sensors, IoT and data acquisition combining two days of training with two days of workshops open to experts in the field.

Training for innovation & project development

Technical skills are complemented by training aimed at helping organisations turn ideas into projects and innovation activities.

Training sessions on proposal preparation are planned regularly during the project.

How to join
Training activities will be announced through the RO-SMARTSYS website and LinkedIn page. Each activity will provide information on its topic, target audience, format, duration, location and registration procedure. Depending on the activity, places may be limited to ensure effective practical learning and access to laboratory infrastructure.
Training costs
Participation in courses, hands-on activities, workshops and consultancy activities is planned to be free of charge for the target beneficiaries: startups and SMEs, universities, RTOs and other public organisations. Applicable conditions may depend on the specific activity and beneficiary category and will be stated in the information provided for each training activity.
